Nerone & Patuzzi sculptural wooden wall panel for NP2, mahogany, Italy, 1973.
This untitled sculpture panel, created around 1970, features linear, curved, concentric, and triangular motifs with an ethnic flavor. The all-encompassing component is light: lights, shadows, planes, and reliefs outline the figure that gradually emerges in this bas-relief. Perspective enhances the volumes, but the vision is perfect from a single frontal angle, highlighting the figures and supporting the thinnest of the reliefs.
This piece is reminiscent of the works produced by the renowned NP2 group, founded in 1962 by Nerone Ceccarelli and Giancarlo Patuzzi. The group aimed to experiment with novel channels of poetic expression via materials and supporting the amalgamation of art and architecture. Initially, NP2 produced individually signed works, but from the 1970s onwards, they also created unsigned panels and furnishings to bring beauty into interiors. Its intricate design and historical significance make it a valuable addition to any luxury interior, reflecting artistic heritage and architectural elegance.
The panel can also be installed vertical.
