Max Ingrand “2240” sconce for Fontana Arte, brass and glass, 1961
Designed by Max Ingrand during his celebrated artistic direction at Fontana Arte, this model reflects the refined Italian lighting design of the early 1960s. A circular brass frame encloses a satin-finished diffuser, embraced by two curved, green-tinted glass elements that overlap with quiet precision. The light is soft and diffused, creating a warm halo that gently animates the surrounding wall.
The interplay of textured glass, transparency and patinated brass recalls other iconic works by Ingrand for Fontana Arte, such as the 1853 table lamp and the 2097 mirror compositions, where layered glass and controlled luminosity define the aesthetic.
