Mario Bellini “Pianura” rectangular coffee table for Cassina, wood, Italy, 1971.
The “Pianura” living room set is a great expression of the minimalism and elegance of Mario Bellini’s creations. This coffee table was presented in 1972, just a couple of years after launching the iconic “Camaleonda” and the same year of “Le Mura”. With this particular model, Bellini develops some unconventional features. The name “Pianura” in Italian means “flatland” and recalls, in fact, the smooth lines of this piece. The coffee table looks warm and comfortable thanks to the combination of the materials and design. The structure is made of Italian walnut, resting on four spherical gum feet.
