Single “Feltre” Sconces for Greco, Glass and brass, Italy, 1960, Set of two
The “Feltre” wall lamps by Greco exemplifies the refined Italian midcentury modern design. The original patinated brass structure, combined with pressed glass diffusers, achieves a harmonious balance of materiality and form. The brass elements, with their vintage patina, convey a sense of strength. Recalling the iconic Ignazio Gardella’s “LP7” sconces for Azucena, these sconces are versatile, allowing the shades to be mounted facing upward or downward, adapting seamlessly to various interior arrangements. The glass diffusers feature an intricate design with vertical folds on the upper half and horizontal folds on the lower half. This detail evokes the delicate texture of Japanese rice paper lanterns, imbuing the lamps with a sense of lightness and cultural resonance. The spherical glass elements are supported by brass rods adorned with cylindrical studs, creating a jewel-like geometry.
