Alessandro Becchi “Toscanolla” dining chairs for Giovannetti, ashwood and straw, Italy, 1970, set of twelve.
This rare “Toscanolla” dining chair was designed by Becchi for Giovannetti in 1970. Often misspelled as “Toscanella”, the “Toscanolla” chairs are characterized by cone-shaped legs that create a bulky, solid wooden structure, but still sophisticated thanks to the curved straw backrest. A unique and refined design that recalls iconic comfortable Italian country chairs, such as the Vico Magistretti “Carimate”. The light tone of solid ash wood enhances the Toscanolla’s sculptural geometry with its delicate hue and natural grain. Each chair is marked with the designer and manufacturer logo.
