Afra & Tobia Scarpa “Elogio” modular sofa for B&B Italia, ivory velvet, 1974, set of three
Designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for B&B Italia in 1974, Elogio is a modular sofa that balances refined aesthetics with functional versatility. The design was conceived to meet the need for a seating system that can also serve as a bed.
The horizontal seat surface is composed of a polyurethane foam base incorporating a flexible structure made from cut sheets of marine plywood. On either side of this base, slim side panels—padded with foam and finished with an outer cover—serve as the sole support for the back and armrest cushions.
The sofa allows for various seating configurations: cushions can be repositioned freely and are easily removed when transforming the piece into a sleeping surface. Its modular construction offers adaptability to a range of spatial and functional needs, making it an ideal solution for contemporary interiors.
Our atelier restored and reupholstered the set. We offer custom restoration and special reupholstering on request. Contact us to create the object you desire.
