Vico Magistretti "Triclinio" ceiling lamp for Artemide, steel and glass, Italy, 1967, set of two.

Designed by Vico Magistretti for Artemide in 1967, the Triclinio ceiling lamp belongs to the Clinio series, together with the Pentaclinio and Eptaclinio models. Its name derives from the Greek words "τρεῖς" (treis), meaning three, and "κλίνειν" (klinein), meaning to lean or recline, referencing the composition of its three inclined lighting elements.

The lamp features three opaline glass diffusers arranged around a central structure, supported by a rigid ceiling rod and a refined metal frame with a matte nickel finish. The softly frosted glass creates an even, warm diffusion of light, while the geometric arrangement gives the piece a balanced and sculptural presence.

Magistretti’s use of modular components and essential forms makes the Triclinio a distinctive example of Italian mid-century lighting design. The glass diffuser was also used across other Artemide models, including Omega, Erse, Clitunno, and Clinio.
