Sergio Rodrigues "Tonico" lounge chairs for Meia Pataca, 1963, set of two.
Designed in 1963 for Meia Pataca, the "Tonico" is Sergio Rodrigues at his most direct: a low wooden rig that puts structure on display and lets the leather do the talking.
The frame is built from stacked rails and squared uprights, tightened with exposed hardware—almost like a piece of crafted equipment rather than a "soft" lounge chair. Inside that clean geometry, the upholstery arrives in bold blocks: a deep red seat cushion, a large ivory cylindrical back roll, and an oversized tan headrest that sits on top like a saddle. Everything is held in place by perforated leather straps with visible stitching, rising to dark spherical finials that crown the posts and give the profile its unmistakable rhythm.
The set can be split. The lounge chairs can be sold singularly.
