Sculptural turned wood floor lamps, France, 1960, set of two.
A pair of floor lamps in turned wood, France, 1960s. The body of each lamp is composed of stacked truncated cone sections, graduating in diameter from a wide circular base to a narrow waist, where they meet an inverted conical shade that opens upward to direct light toward the ceiling. The construction reads as both functional object and sculptural form — the segmented shaft recalling totemic or archaic references while remaining firmly within the mid-century idiom.
The wood carries a deep reddish-brown patina, warm and uneven across the grain, with the natural figuring of the material visible throughout. Each section is finished with a polished surface that deepens with age. The interior of the shade diffuses the bulb's light softly, casting an amber wash upward against the wall.
The set can be split. The floor lamps can be sold singularly.
