Primitive Monumental Ecclesiastical Wooden Throne, Italy, 1990s.

A cross is carved into the back of this throne, with zigzag openings cut through the sides and a pointed, carved head above. The curved, light-toned back reaches 98.43 in (250 cm) and is one of the tallest of the series. The seat is a broad, hand-worked board on arched legs. The sawtooth edge on the back gives the profile a distinctive rhythm. The carving recalls religious wooden sculpture.
