Pierre Chapo "S11" dining chairs for Atelier Pierre Chapo, elm and leather, France, 1966, set of twelve.

Pierre Chapo designed the "S11" dining chairs in 1966, epitomizing his architectural style. These chairs feature intricate joinery with a missing angle at the junction between the seat and legs, enhancing ergonomic comfort and breaking up overly rational lines. The chairs are crafted from solid elm wood with a clear protective finish, showcasing natural beauty and durability.
The seats consist of two cognac leather straps with side stitching, while the backrests feature a single cognac leather strap with a cross rail for reinforcement. The design emphasizes cubic forms and artisanal craftsmanship, aligning with mid-century modernism and minimalism. The work of modernist architects and designers such as Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand significantly influenced Chapo. Their emphasis on functionalism, simplicity, and the beauty of natural materials resonated with Chapo's design philosophy.

Additional chairs available on request. Please send an email for additional information.

The set can be split. The dining chairs can be sold singularly.
