Paolo Tilche floor lamp for Sirrah, metal, Italy, 1970.

Designed in 1970 by Paolo Tilche for Sirrah, this floor lamp is structured around a chromed spherical head, partially cut and rotated to reveal its inner reflector. The opening frames the bulb and directs the beam with precision, creating a focused yet controlled light.

The inclined stem introduces a dynamic line, counterbalanced by the circular base and the secondary chromed sphere at its pivot. The use of reflective metal and pure geometry places the piece within the broader Italian space-age research of the period, in dialogue with designers such as Gae Aulenti and Joe Colombo, who similarly explored volume, reflection, and directional lighting.

Sirrah, founded in 1969, became a platform for forward-looking experimentation in Italian lighting, combining technical innovation with formal clarity.
