A large oval dining table consciously attributed to Paolo Buffa, one of the most significant figures of Italian mid-century interior design and a central presence in the Milanese decorating culture of the postwar decades. The table rests on two sculpted X-form trestle bases, each composed of curved legs with a sweeping, architectural profile that recalls the classical vocabulary Buffa consistently reinterpreted throughout his career. The legs terminate in square brass sabots and meet at the center through a concave brass medallion, while a polished brass stretcher runs the full length between the two bases, anchoring the composition horizontally. The apron is animated by a rhythmic series of small brass floral inlays distributed along its entire perimeter — a decorative device that speaks to Buffa's characteristic attention to ornamental detail without excess. The oval top features a banded edge with a subtle molded profile, its veneer surface retaining the warmth and depth of the original finish.
