Italian Nightstands in the Style of Paolo Buffa, sapele wood, Italy, 1950s, Set of 2

These nightstands reflect the design language associated with Paolo Buffa's body of work, combining function and form with the same structural clarity found across his output. The structure is formed by two continuous lateral panels that taper toward the floor, functioning as both sides and legs in a single uninterrupted plane, with softly rounded top corners. Each cabinet door is faced in maple burl veneer, framed by a contrasting light wood border that sits proud of the sapele surround, with the interior lined in the same light wood, creating a clear dialogue between the two materials. A continuous band runs from leg to leg along the base, reinforcing the coherence of the overall silhouette, while tapered, concave brass knob handles balance restraint with a quiet sense of luxury.
Paolo Buffa's furniture is frequently recognized for this pairing of architectural discipline with refined material contrast, and the maple burl detailing set against sapele seen on these nightstands reflects a combination closely associated with his 1950s output. The tapering lateral panels acting simultaneously as sides and legs are a construction logic often found in pieces attributed to Paolo Buffa's circle, reinforcing the coherence between structure and surface that defines this body of work.

The set can be split. The nightstands can be sold singularly.
