Organic Abstract Wooden Sculpture, Italy, 1990s.

A tall, pointed form rises from a stepped wooden base, its silhouette recalling a fir tree or an arrowhead. Along the centre, two columns of leaf-shaped openings are cut into the surface, each lined with a deep red that glows against the warm, honey-brown wood. A slim ridge runs up the spine to the tip, and the grain flows in fine, even lines across the wide, gently curved shoulders. The reverse tells a quieter story in darker, weathered tones, where the same cut-outs trace a profile of their own. A small signature is carved on the front, just below the openings.
