Designed in the 1950s by Max Ingrand, one of the most celebrated figures in Italian glassmaking and longtime artistic director of Fontana Arte, the Model 1636 wall sconces stand as an emblem of his poetic approach to light. Each sconce features a tall, tapered diffuser in satin-finished curved glass, held by elegantly sculpted brass brackets that frame the piece with a subtle architectural gesture.

The frosted surface softens the light into a warm, atmospheric glow—a hallmark of Ingrand’s work, where illumination becomes a delicate material in itself. His refined treatment of glass, influenced by both Gothic stained-glass restoration and mid-century modern experimentation, resonates with the contemporaneous explorations of designers such as Gino Sarfatti and Ignazio Gardella, who shared a similar sensitivity toward the expressive potential of light.
