Gio Ponti's "Quadro di Luce" wall sconce for Pollice presents a rectangular frame enclosing a floating arrangement of solid brass volumes, cubes, rectangular blocks, and triangular wedges, set at varying depths and angles against a white lacquered ground. The composition reads as a three-dimensional relief when the fixture is unlit, its polished and satin brass facets catching ambient light unevenly across each surface. Once illuminated, the sconce becomes something closer to a shadow drawing: light spills from behind the frame and around its edges, and the brass forms turn into dark silhouettes suspended against a warm glow, shifting the piece from object to environment.
