Cubist Figural Wooden Sculpture, Italy, 1990s.

Two figures, built from small blocks of different woods, lean towards one another in a tender embrace. Rounded red details mark the faces and bodies, and a carved letter M in the chest gives the group a graphic, almost heraldic accent. Two slim legs carry the pair above a light wooden base, so the composition feels both grounded and graceful. The woods range from deep, near-black brown to pale honey, and each block keeps its own grain, which makes the surface rich in tone and texture. The pieces are fitted together with small pegs and metal heads that add quiet detail. From the front, the group reads as a single, harmonious mass, and from the side it separates into two distinct figures.
