Afra & Tobia Scarpa "Monk" dining chairs for Molteni, red leather and beech, Italy, 1974, set of twelve.
The particular feature of this model is the support structure composed of two equal trestles in solid wood attached to shaped metal tubing, creating a single element for the seat and back. The two structural parts are joined by two pairs of bolts for each trestle, with the decorative touch of large hubs in burnished steel facilitating the connection to the solid wood. The seat surface is made with two leather parts shaped for comfortable sitting; besides the two coverage options, a solution was also offered. The trestles were made with composite elements, alternating two external layers in light wood. This chromatic motif was to be further developed in the Artona series.
We offer custom restoration and special reupholstering on request. Contact us for additional information.
The set can be split. The dining chairs can be sold singularly.
