Stilnovo "8058" Table Lamp, Italy, 1960s

Description

Stilnovo "8058" table lamp, metal and turned wood, Italy, 1960s

This table lamp, model "8058," rests on a turned wood cone that meets a nickel-plated brass stem, its waisted, hourglass form narrowing before flaring again beneath the shade. A flat disc in the same nickel-plated brass forms the base, and a small brass fitting at the neck holds the socket and cord. A wide, bell-shaped shade completes the piece.

Stilnovo, founded in Milan in 1946 by Bruno Gatta, was known for pairing industrial and traditional materials within a single design. The 8058 model, produced in the 1960s, reflects that approach: wood and metal read as two distinct elements, held together in one continuous silhouette.

This 8058 table lamp for Stilnovo brings together turned wood and nickel-plated brass in a compact, sculptural form.
