Nerone & Patuzzi Dining Table for Gruppo NP2, 1970s

Description

Nerone & Patuzzi dining table for Gruppo NP2, glass, iron and wood, Italy, 1970s.

Designed by the Italian duo Nerone and Patuzzi, this dining table is a work of art. The base consists of an asymmetrical layout of geometric elements that vary in size and shape. The NP2 Group enjoyed carving in metal and wood and constantly experimented with ways to treat the surfaces of their sculptures. In this unique piece, the designers treated the wood’s textured surface with fire and finished with a clear varnish. This feature creates contrasting light and shadow details that enrich the design.
