Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe “MR10” chairs for Gavina Knoll, straw and steel, Italy, 1927, set of six.
The “MR10” is one of the most iconic design chairs of all time, introduced for the first time in 1927 at the Die Wohnung exhibition in Stuttgart. People were amazed for two reasons: tubular chromed steel and weight, all supported by front legs. The steel finish contrasts with the straw seat and back, creating a streamlined chair. Especially “MR10” chairs and “MR20” compose the Weissenhof set of chairs, designed by Mies Van Der Rohe and the Russian architect Sergius Ruegenberg.
