Angelo Lelii Rare Floor Lamp for Arredoluce, 1950s

Description

Angelo Lelii floor lamp for Arredoluce, brass, lacquered metal, and marble, Italy, 1950s.

Among Angelo Lelii's most inventive output for Arredoluce, this floor lamp from around 1950s distills the engineering sensibility that defined the Monza firm at its most ambitious. The structure rests on a biomorphic white marble base from which a slender red-lacquered steel stem rises vertically, anchoring a long horizontal brass arm held in counterbalance by a thin tensioned wire. The shade, lacquered in yellow and assembled from interlocking curved metal panels fastened with small wire loops, hangs from the arm's tip and houses two opaline glass diffusers beneath it. The brass floor-level switch, a recognizable Arredoluce detail, completes the composition. The arm pivots at the upright, allowing the shade to be repositioned at multiple angles and heights.
