Afra & Tobia Scarpa “Bonanza” armchairs for C&B Italia, cognac leather, 1969, set of 2
The “Bonanza” armchairs, designed by Afra & Tobia Scarpa for C&B in 1969, embody modern comfort and minimalist design. The upholstery appears as a continuous piece of leather, giving the armchairs a cohesive look and a sense of energy dispersal from the seat.
The barely-there armrests add a subtle touch that complements the armchairs’ clean lines without overpowering their minimalist design. The natural folds and creases in the leather add character and charm, making each piece unique.
Constructed from ABS, rubber and steel, the Bonanza armchairs highlight the Scarpas’ innovative use of materials and forward-thinking design techniques. These armchairs are part of the Scarpas’ second major project for C&B Italia, following their successful collaboration on the Coronado system.
