It was designed by De Pas, D’Urbino and Lomazzi for Stilnovo in Italy. The glass is clear at the top and gradually becomes opaque toward the foot, so the bulb inside is visible at the upper section and diffused below. The clear upper end of the glass passes through an opening in the disc, where a dark rubber ring holds the shade in place. The shade can be tilted on this neck, moving from a flat horizontal position to a steep angle. The rolled rim of the disc gives the shade a defined edge. As it tilts, light from the glass body is thrown onto the underside of the disc.

The lamp dates from 1979 and comes from the Milan studio De Pas, D’Urbino and Lomazzi, whose work in the late 1960s and 1970s includes the inflatable “Blow” armchair for Zanotta and the “Joe” sofa for Poltronova. Stilnovo, the Milanese lighting manufacturer, produced the lamp. The design has little ornament. Its character comes from the contrast between blown glass and a precisely formed disc, and from a shade that the user can reposition.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0954/5688/7157/files/raw-183_c9d9a43f-c8d5-44bc-9015-ee56d0455235.jpg?v=1793199806
