Mario Marenco “Sapporo” dining chairs for Mobil Girgi, beech and leather, Italy, 1970, set of six.
A rare variant of the iconic Marenco’s “Sapporo” chair, this version shows a strong personality and this is immediately recognizable, with some unconventional Leather impactful details. This sculptural version consists of two specular decorated slats slightly separated. The backrest is engraved and forms an L shape. The two cylindrical wooden legs on the front part support a large seat in patinated cognac leather. With style close to the iconic “Africa” chairs by Afra & Tobia Scarpa, the beechwood combined with the leather seat gives the chair a sense of class and elegance.
