Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe “MR10” chairs for Gavina Knoll, leather and steel, Italy, 1927, set of six.
The “MR10” is one of the most iconic design chairs of all time, introduced for the first time in 1927 at Die Wohung exhibition in Stuttgart. People were amazed for two reasons: tubular steel and weight all supported by front legs. Especially “MR10” chairs together with “MR20” compose the Weissenhof set of chairs, designed by Mies Van Der Rohe and the Russian architect Sergius Ruegenberg. The steel finish contrasts with the leather seat and back, creating a streamlined of the chairs.
